Availability: Out of stock

"Paris." Kishin SHINOYAMA, photographer. Japan: Shinchosha, 1977, First Edition, OOP, HB leatherette, case, 35 cm x 27 cm, approx. 150 pp, full page and double page color reproductions, double gate-fold booklet with a map that shows areas of photographs as well as thumbnail reproductions of all images with English captions.

“Many of the photos in this amazing book will strike the viewer as updated versions of Atget's Paris. Only in ravishing color and with the sort of exquisite detail that the photographic technology of Atget's day could not even begin to capture. Shinoyama went on to become renowned for his highly formalist nude photos. This elegantly designed early monograph is now quite scarce. Shinoyama began his career as a successful advertising photographer beginning in the mid-1960s and gained further notice in 1966 with infamous photos of writer Yukio Mishima, some of which were displayed in huge format to outraged shoppers in a Tokyo department store. He remains one of Japan's most successful commercial photographers."--Photo-eye.

The full and double page bleeds are printed in deep color. Shinoyama's sequencing is as artful as the images themselves - an all-time classic.
