The complete set of the paperback reprint of Shinoyama's monumental Silk Road series. Originally published in eight volumes - all gigantic. An awe-inspiring collection of images along the thousands of miles of the ancient silk road from Japan to Italy. Each book is a series of impeccably sequenced, photo-essays of people and places paying special attention to extreme landscapes, places of worship and especially the character and lifestyles of the residents. Far more than travelogues, both artistically and historically amazing. The cinematic sequencing is as artistic as the images themselves. All of the photos are in Shinoyama's signature deep color. Sprinkled throughout the each book is some descriptive text (in Japanese) and a map of the entire journey and all of the places visited - Japan, Korea, China, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy.
