MIYABI KYODO, artist. “AMC Artman Club VIP Members Edition Portfolio Series: Miyabi Tsukuru (1).” Japan: Nippon Geijutsu Shuppan (NGS), undated - ca. 2000?, First Edition, custom folio, 12 heavy-stock loose-sheet glossy color prints with cover sheet in a folder, 31 x 22 cm.

”Miyabi’s SM art is like no other’s in Japan... he continues the traditions of evocative seme-e begun in the early Edo era that inspired the SM pioneer Itoh Seiyu, encompassed the mid-twentieth century genius of Kita Reiko, and still resonate with us today in the intriguing and artistic world of modern shibari/kinbaku.”--Master K, The Beauty of Kinbaku, p. 84.

NGS Artman Club publications were available by subscription only - not in bookstores - this allowed them to circumvent Japanese censorship standards. The private publications of the Artman Club usually published Western photographers like David Hamilton, Jacques Bourboulon, Otto Weisser, Siwer Ohlsson, Jacques Alexandre, Jean-Pierre Bourgeois and Michel Moreau with sun-drenched Mediterranean settings and limbs-akimbo poses. On occassion NGS published erotic artwork reproductions both Japanese and Western. Since the date of this publication, Miyabi’s cult status has garnered more worldwide attention. Probably very few of these were printed.

Very Rare - even scarcer than Miyabi’s 2002 limited edition “Kyodo Miyabi goka gashu.” The two Artman Club Portfolios are perhaps Miyabi’s earliest publications since he no longer uses the signature that he employs here, “Miyabi tsukuru,” the Miyabi here in Chinese characters.
