Nobuyoshi ARAKI "Femme de Mouche" 1994 Photobook

Availability: Out of stock

Nobuyoshi ARAKI, photographer. “Femme de Mouche.” Japan: Mizuki, 1994, First Edition, HB, dj, 31 cm x 23 cm, ca. 150 pp, color & b/w photos.

"A steamy and subtly narrative book of photographs by Nobuyoshi Araki. The book follows the activities of one woman who may or may not be a prostitute. Known for an uncanny ability to reveal the sexual symbols which surround us every day, Araki tells the tale of the Femme de Mouche with a paradoxically garish subtlety."--Photo-eye

A provocative pictorial of an unnamed mystery model that unfolds in a rather cinematic fashion, eventually incorporating her lover and daughter, with a few cityscapes and floral still life as well. The black & white and color photos, both posed and in movement, are masterfully sequenced and designed by Araki.
