Nobuyoshi ARAKI "Inochi no chibusa" - "Breasts of Life" 2010 Photobook

Availability: Out of stock

Nobuyoshi ARAKI, photographer. "Inochi no chibusa" - "Breasts of Life: 19 Survivors of Breast Cancer." Japan: AKAAKA Art Publishing, 2010, First Edition, PB, dj, 23 cm x 19 cm, 108 pp, b/w photos, text in Japanese.

"Breast for Life is a collection of photographs of women who managed to gain back not only their breasts but also their lives.... The book was designed, written and produced by STP Project... One of its members, Mika Masui, recognized the need for such a book after going through a reconstructive surgery herself. Nobuyoshi Araki, a globally known photographer, took on the project. He expressed respect toward each woman by gently and warmly enveloping these women through his camera lens. We believe the lively expression of each woman who agreed to model for this book speaks for itself and hope you enjoy every page."--publisher

Despite the subject, this book is far from solemn but rather is full of joyful models - an unexpected recent example of what Araki calls his "happiness photography." The 19 models, even one of the STP Project members, bare it all for a good cause.
