Nobuyoshi ARAKI "Zentaishugi, Bubunshugi" 2000 Photobook

Availability: Out of stock

Nobuyoshi ARAKI, photographer. "Zentaishugi, Bubunshugi" - "Totalitarianism, Sectionalism." Japan: ExPlantae, 2000, First Edition, 23 cm x 17 cm.

"A gadget book containing a single nude photograph split up into thirty-six postcards, a commentary booklet and an audio CD. A manifestation of Araki's belief that the essence of photography is all about coming and going between the whole and parts."--Kotaro Iizawa, Araki: Self, Life, Death

A curiosity in the works of Araki. Contains 36 postcards that together create one large image, a folding booklet with numerous images, a mini-CD with Araki speaking and a plastic model toy - this example has a snake. (I have also seen examples with a lizard - not sure how many different toys there were.) This one is pretty rare now.

Condition: Interior contents - booklet, mini-cd, toy and postcards - are all excellent, outer box is completely smushed with split corners - always a danger with this one since there is no inner support for the box.
