Tetsuji TAKECHI "Ai no rimbu" 1970 Photobook

Availability: Out of stock

Tetsuji TAKECHI, photographer. "Ai no rimbu" - "Love Circle Dance." Japan: Gendai Shinsha, 1970, First Edition, Thick textured clothbound boards with embossed gold lettering, 29 x 23 cm, 120 pp, color photos.

Takechi was an important Japanese film and theatrical director who, though a bit forgotten now, during the 60s battled against government censorship and was known as the "Father of Pink Film," influencing directors like Seijun Suzuki, Nagisa Oshima, Koji Wakamatsu and setting the stage for the successful pink film directors of the 1970s. Ai no rimbu is a graphic photo novel in 12 chapters, taking the model on a cinematic journey of fetishes and degradation. Though, to me, the images of bondage, orgiastic carnality, kabuki masks and sacrilegious iconography just look groovy in a 60s sort of way.
